Do you guys use all glow plastic, or allow LEDs taped on discs?

Just wondering. I've been following some discussions at my local club in MI and folks are favoring the use of LEDs since, according to sources, the availability of glow discs from some of the manufacturers will be more limited than ever.

Old-timers and purists insist on glow discs, newbies and those who want to throw their "regular" discs at night, seem to prefer the LEDs.

I was just curious as to what's happening in Iowa, glow-wise.

Joe

Most of us use the led (bobber) lights on our discs. They are easy to find and you dont have to worry about charging up your disc with a light before you throw. The glow discs seem to be harder to find than a few years back. I have no problem getting glow wizards but innova does run out of their glow plastic a lot. We have been doing this for a couple years now and it seems to work pretty well.

That's what I was guessing, thanks.

I'd say in a few years time, if trends continue, folks will talk of Night Golf and not of Glow golf for the most part.

With the bobbers or LEDs, you can also start play earlier since in near-darkness the light will still be plenty bright, but a glow disc not quite bright enough yet.

Why do we not start at 7:30 it get's dark at that time now. Just a thought and if you do call me so I know. Also I think you , Train, Clark, and I should be insured that none of us a partners on this the last glow of the year. We are so close in the race, that say I get Clark there is no way I can win this thing. I would have to take second and that is just not fair. So I sujest that all four of us get seperate cards at the beginning and everyone else draws to see which one of us they get. Just an idea.

Last Friday was the end of the Glow League for 2007. Congratulations to Jeff Clark who won the basket this year. This year was a closer race than last years, as there were 3 or 4 in the running towards the end of the league. We raised $600 this year in 10 Friday nites. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Glow league and Camden Park. We will have some random glow rounds after Camden Chaos this year, which is October 20th. Next year we are thinking of a different format that would give anybody that plays the league a chance at the basket and we have the option of using Camden II.

THANKS AGAIN to everyone who supported the Glow League this year.

2008 GLOW LEAGUE
This years glow league is going to be run a little different. There will still be a basket given away at the end of the year. The basket is being donated once again by PK! (Be sure to THANK HIM when you see him out) The winner will be chosen by a raffle. The way you get raffle tickets is playing in the league. Every time you sign up you will be given 1 raffle ticket.

The top 5 groups of the night will get tickets as follows: 1st - 5 tickets each, 2nd - 4 tickets each, 3rd - 3 tickets each, 4th - 2 tickets each, and 5th – 1 tickets each. You will put you name and phone number on the tickets each night. The winner does not need to be present to win the basket as long as their name and phone number is on the back of the winning ticket.

Glow will start Friday May 23, 2008. The league will run tentatively through September and we will try to keep it every other week (weather permitting & Milan’s approval). The exact date will be posted on www.iowadg.com forum (QC Leagues-Glow). Sign in will be a half hour before dark and the round starts at dark. The league will run $7 each week. There will be a CTP (random holes) every night of glow and it will be B&B money, in the amount for the number of people playing in the league. There will be no payout at the end of the league other than raffle tickets. The money raised from the league will be used to better Camden & Camden II.
