Give it until Spring, there will be. See Thompson's post. |
Butterworth Preview

| There is a good chance that this course was designed by Gary Lewis. I saw Gary and a friend at Camden about a month ago and they said that East Moline contacted them about placing a course in their city, and they were down to check things out. |

Strange that they would call Gary Lewis down from Chicago. Stranger He wouldnt make contact with someone from the club, to let them know. Strangest that this is the first anyone has seemed to hear about it.
_ Correction. After re-reading the first post, Dan obviously knew something about it. _________________ www.ironliondgs.com

| Whats with the proposed layout? The distance from ones basket to twos tee, and crossing a fairway to get to the third tee, not very well laid out IMO. |

That's the best we could surmise from what little info we've been able to gather. Whomever is behind this isn't exactly putting a lot out there.
I should have more concrete info in the next few days. _________________ Orange Guy, Inc.

You? Wow, it must be really bad. Like someone leaving behind thousands in debt for others to man-up to while they move on to dupe the next poor sucker. But it couldn't possibly be that bad... _________________ www.QCDGC.com |

The info for the course at Butterworth Park came from my website http://quadcitydiscgolf.com/ and has been available for a while. This course has been in the works for a couple years now, and with the success of Middle park and now the addition of the second course at Camden, the city of East Moline felt they were ready to finally add the course. It will be a nine holer with two tee pads and three pin locations, and will play primarily for the more rec type player but when played from the longs it will still be a fun challenge for more advanced golfers by using fast greens and elevation changes.
The City will be paying for the course and doing all the work, along with the help of a local volunteer group that will do mostly fundraising thru hole sponsorships. The vast amount of the leg work has been done by Jeff Clark, with help from me on the design. The park is small and tight, but I feel we came up with the best way to use the available space while staying within the tight restrictions from the city itself. The first tee pad has been poured along with the practice basket being installed, but the rest of the work will be done in the spring.
This is a great example of how far disc golf has come in the Quad Cities. No funds will need to be raised by the club nor will any work be needed, and the city is very excited about getting a great little course! _________________

| I think this was a little shifty and underhanded, but as long as I don't have to saw trees and build the thing, great news. |

That's one spin, sure. I think it's sad the Club is the last to know about a new course in the area. _________________ Orange Guy, Inc.

There's just no way to sugarcoat this, but after almost $8000.00 and countless hours of labor, that really hurts. _________________ "Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way."
