2013 USDGC

Postby grodney » Tue May 14, 2013 9:10 am

Is there already a thread for this tourney? If so, please lock/delete/ban as appropriate.

Over on DGCR, Chuck is indicating that USDGC is seeking an rules waiver, whereby the roped areas won't be "OB", they'll be special condition areas. If you land in them, you take a stroke penalty and throw from where your disc landed (i.e. in the special condition area).

Thoughts?

So I'm thinking they'd have to use two different colors of rope, to differentiate OB from special condition? Or maybe they'll do it on a hole-by-hole basis? But like on hole #8, you'd certainly still have some OB on the left, but maybe special condition on the right?

I'm wondering if this would be for both classes (real and handicapped)? Or maybe they'll use last year's rules or stroke-and-distance for the real players, and use this special condition for the handicapped division?

Hmmmm.

I saw the proposed map and it's only a few locations where this rule waiver would be used IF they decide to do it. That's not a lock at this point.

How sad and prettymuch true.

What if they had this thing on a golf course and used standard rules?

McBeth has dominated this year. He won repeat World's title, NT points, shot an 1132 highest rated round ever with a 39 at Fountain Hills, and most recently shot a 45 at Maple Hill sailing to a 13 stroke victory over the planet's best with no one else carding a round under 50.

McBeast hasn't won, placed, or showed at USDGC. So is he the favorite, or is it Schusterick for the first 3-peat? Of course Nikko, Feldbeard, and Climo are always contenders.

Number 7 is now a triple mando. No more sneaking in over the top.

This will be #8 and pretty excited. Mandie and me are leaving next Friday and we decided to drive. The field is super stacked even though there are only 51 signed up at this time. Looking forward to try to tame this beast as it dominates me. I'm also interested to see the dgers strategy on #7...lay up or try to get through the triple mando.

Re: #7: I wonder what the distance is from the gate to the basket? Will it be throw to the mouth and see who can make their putt?

..and there it is. My disdain for this event boils down to the definition of the word "spectacular". It's subjective, I know.

OB is too punitive and a triple mando is cool.

Hazard ob looking like its causing some issues. Hopefully it gets worked out. Course looks great as always. It's definitely nice to have driven down. Brought all kinds of stock discs for the water shots which had allowed me to relax. In past ice lost a ton of discs and/or been scared to lose discs which lead to being tense and not focussing on the right thing. I want to turn the page at this damn place.

Took me about 20 rounds to crack 70. Claring shot 60 last year, I'm guessing you can too! Good luck and have fun this week!

Thanks. Played 4 rounds now and played 2 of them for score. 1st round was a decent and minimal OB round 65. Today's was a 68 with a Fn 9 on #5. LOL THERES A FOOTBALL FIELD WORTH OF LAND BEHIND THE BASKET! I need to stop trying to park the 3rd shot and just crush one over the water and pitch up for an easy 5. ugh. 57 is silly with the OBs this year. Actually like the regular ob rule mixed with the hazard rule. You just need to know where each are at on the course.
