Hey everyone:

Tis last week has been tough to play disc golf in. I have played at Big Creek, Ankeny, and a quick 9 at Pete. They are all slick, but Big Creek is the most playable right now. Daryl and Frank played one hole at Grandview and that was enough. What kind of condition are Ewing and Walnut in?? Has anyone been to them this last week? With the present conditions, I am hoping for either a lot more melting or a lot more snow before the Ice Bowl.

I hear ya. Any elevation with the slickness is pretty much impossible, and dangerous. Big Creek and Heritage are pretty flat, kinda fun to play slip n slide golf.

Yeah -- skip golf is pretty fun if you plan for it. I had a 270' putt today that actually had about 50' of air time -- its a good thing I planned it that way. I handled it pretty well and then erased a three down start with a slip and slide six. Oh well -- A slippery day on the disc golf course is better than a great day of work!!

I gave Walnut a shot this morning and was pleasantly surprised. Since there has been very little traffic, there aren't any areas tracked down that much. The majority of the open areas are 80% grass and about 40% of the concrete is showing on the tee pads. Some of the pads were clean and of course some were covered with ice. It was kind of the opposite of what I expected. The wooded holes had the most ice and the open ones were mostly clean. There are still some slick spots, but overall it is in pretty good shape to play. I took advantage of the nice day and went to Big Creek next. Still icy, but the light dusting of snow yesterday combined with a little sunshine actually created a little footing. Still no run up though.

You all need to get a crappy job like mine so I have people to go throw with during the week.

Scratch everything I just said about conditions. Dust off the DX plastic and have fun doing CSI looking for your disc in all of that fresh powder. It's going to be a cold one this week, so I don't think the snow is going anywhere.

Hole 10 was stolen at some point the past week. Be patient, we will have it replaced in a few days
