2009 Course Work

Postby hyzerman16234 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 7:35 am

Here is the list of items to do before the October tourney. I've tried to prioritize.

1. Finish storm damage cleanup.
2. Install the steps on #8. (The ties are cut and ready to move to the hill)
3. Mulch the storm debris. (Plan for a weekend in September)
4. Mulch pads, trails, etc. (Can move remaining piles any time)
5. Install more steps on #9.
6. Steps and trail walls on #14.

The last item would be nice but can wait until the other stuff is done. Clean up will eat enough time up.

Thanks to Kelly, Bob, Odie & Crager for all their work yesterday. We're almost done cutting on the storm damage and the steps are staged. :D

Maybe you've mentioned this in a different thread, but are you planning on taking the downed trees on 12 completely out or will you leave some of it as a nice obstacle? Personally I like it right now.
Force, Wraith, Teebird, Pig, Buzzz, Cobra, Challenger...This week at least.

I think it will stay the way it is for now and maybe forever.
The very right side toward #13 tee may get trimmed some more eventually but the main "trunks" are way to big to cut with our chainsaws.

It definately changes your approach shot into the B pin doesn't it

Eventually they will become firewood when they settle down more, but for now they are a part of the hole.

2. 24 new steps are in on #8. Still have the top half to do.

There is a small pile of wood chips left by the circle drive, most were put on 8 by the new steps and around 7A teepad by the new bench
There are some piles scattered around on the front , don't be shy about scattering them around the paths and teepads.
Thanks Bitch'n and Odie for all your hard work.

Great job guys, looks like my Sunday is free to do whatever now :D

One more hole that needs a bench (#16) to complete the course. 8)

I'm taking next Wednesday off to complete some pad work I've been wanting to get to. I'll have my rake to spread some mulch around then.

#2 run up area of the pad has been revamped, the front of #3 pad leveled and #4 has been totally rebuilt. I will continue to "touch up" other pads that need it before the tourney in October.
It sure would be nice if we could concrete them permanently. Does anyone have a helicopter, equipt to haul and dump concrete, we could borrow for a couple days?

I also did some more chainsaw work on #3 cleaning up a widow maker and some leftover storm debris.

The crew will be renting a chipper to clean up debris from the June storm the weekend of October 3rd. We plan to use it Sat and Sun. We could use a few good hands to help move branches etc to the chipper. Any help will be appeciated. As all plans go things could change but we plan to be mulching from around noon on Saturday. Thanks Hep

To all the guys that have stated at some point or another that they would like to help, here is your chance.
I would say to show up around 10:00 ish since the mulcher will most likely be picked up around 8:00 in CR on Saturday morning.
We are planning on four hours of "run time" both Saturday and Sunday.
(By run time, I mean the mulcher is timed while it is running, not when it is shut down)
We get eight hours of run time to use for the weekend.

We hope to see a few of you "young backs" out there to help us.

I don't think I am playing anything this weekend so I could help. I have some stuff to do around my house but think I can swing up to Urbana for a bit.
