Pioneer Ridge Ice Bowl Jan 12, 2013

The cupboards are close to empty at the Food Bank of Southern Iowa and at other organizations around the state that distribute food to needy families and individuals. Playing in and donating to Ice Bowls is a great way for disc golfers to give back to their communities. The Pioneer Ridge Ice Bowl will be Jan 12, 2013 at the Pioneer Ridge Nature Area located on Hwy 63, 6 miles south of Ottumwa. It is technically called Bloomfield, but it is 12 miles north of Bloomfield. Registration is from 8:15 to 9:30. Pros-$25 Ams-$15 Ams split into flights after rd 1. Pros-60% payback. 50/50 Hole-$5. Ace Fund $2.
Half of 50/50 goes to Food Bank, half goes to winner of 50/50 hole. If no aces all of the Ace Fund goes to Food Bank. Two rounds of 15 holes. Winter rules- no ob's or penalties.

Donations Welcome

Postby IowaDGer » Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:41 am

This is a great idea to have the Ice Bowl in January instead of February this year. It is still OK to bring cans of food and donate cash as well. In the Courier a few weeks ago there was an article about how the Food Bank could buy something like 70 lbs of food for $5.00.

This has always been a great thing for disc golfers to do to give back to our community. Thanks for organizing this event for all of these years, Tom. If all of our regular Ice Bowl players could bring or invite somebody new, our donation in this time of need could be much bigger and go a lot farther.

If you already have plans or have to work on the 12th, it is still OK to donate a few dollars to this great cause. All we donate stays right here to help somebody or family in our area. We aren't going to be able to change the world, but we can lighten the load for somebody.

Hope to see you there!

If I remember correctly this course has grass tee pads. I also heard a rumor that O-Town doesn't have any snow cover so that won't be any issue. Trying to varify this as it would change a few things up for me.

Being that this is an ice bowl I would guess that ams are doing trophy only.

I played wildwood last week and it was mostly clear except for drifted or piled snow. Pioneer ridge has concrete tees and the two temps will probably be natural.

Can confirm that Ottumwa has pretty much no snow. None at Wildwood, and there was like half a tee pad at IHCC that had a quarter inch on it, but that was it.
