Middle Park Workdays

Middle Park Workdays

Postby DVS1 » Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:02 am

We will be working on Middle starting at 8am on Saturday and I don't know when we'll be done. The to do list for Saturday is:

1.) Dig and frame remaining teepads (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
2.) Pour concrete for tee pads (8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17)
3.) Dig the pin postions (one for each hole) [Jeff and I are going to try to do this with the City on Friday]
4.) Pour concrete for those pin positions
5.) Remove the cleared trees from 15's fairway
6.) Clear and remove the trees to create a path from 9 to 10, 14 to 15, 15 to 16, and 16 to 17
7.) Mowing the fairways that are in the woods
8.) Final Cleanup - this will include some cleanup on 2, 5, 8, 9, and 12
9.) Chipping all of the trees that have been cleared

If we get a large or very large crew for this workday we could get it all done.

I'll be there with gloves and long pants. 8:00 sharp but I have not been to Middle before. Any particular landmark to meet for task assignment?

Tomorrow we will be drilling 18 pin positions. 1 postion for each hole. We wanted to give the course a little playtime before we finalized all of the pin postions. If you are interested in come out to help on Friday please let me know.

On Saturday we will have concrete arriving at 9am (maybe 8am) and 10am. There will be a window of time we'll need to pour that concrete in. 6 1/8 tee pads and 18 pin positions in less than 3 hours. We need all the help we can get.

What's your time frame for tomorrow? I might be able to make it out for a bit. However, I'll be leaving sometime in the afternoon for the rest of the weekend.

I have no idea about the exact time frame. I post it and call you when I know.

Did you want to respond to Stroker6's request for a landmark? I'm too lazy.

Oops forgot to. I honestly have no idea where everyone will be on Saturday. K.C. and I will be starting at 6am, for those interested. I would suggest that when people arrive, if you can't find anyone drive around until you do, or call me 563-940-7433.

Just so everyone knows there are two sides to the park. One side is north of Duck Creek the other is south. The north side is accessible from both Middle Rd. and 23rd St. The south side is only accessible from 23rd St. The south side enterance is on the west side of 23rd St across from Veterans Memorial park.

Today we (Joe, Jeff, Ron, Ron's brother, Mark and myself) also did a lot of other stuff in preparation for tomorrow.

Also, Joe recently went out (on his own) and cleaned up 1's fairway, made a path from 9 to 10, and cleaned up a lot of 15's short position's fairway (and I'm sure he also did some other things). It all looks great. Thanks Joe!

I hope everyone can make it out tomorrow. Some people will be showing up at 6am, some others at 7am, more at 8am, and even more at 9am. Even if you can't make it until 11am we could still use your help.

This course is gonna be wicked awesome.

By my count we had 17 people show up to help today. We got A LOT done.

21 pin positions were poured and set (these are the ones that were drilled Friday and are noted in the above post)

12's tee pad was finished

Tee pad's for 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 were marked, then dug, then framed, then poured, then finished, and are now set

A path connecting 14 and 15 was created

15's short fairway was cleaned up and is now ready to have it's pin installed

It was a very chaotic day with too much going on at almost every moment. Everyone worked their asses/aces off. I would personally like to thank everyone that showed up to help today. If you, as each and every individual, had decided not to show up, we would have been in real trouble today. WE NEEDED EVERYONE THAT SHOWED. Things would have been exponentially harder with each person not showing up. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

Now for the news everyone has been waiting for. We plan on installing the baskets THIS WEEK. There is still a bunch of minor things left to do. When the major items from "minor" to do list are done, the baskets will go in.

I will post (or call somone and have them post) when the baskets do go in. I'll also have Mike post a map of the course for you to print out and believe me you'll need it!

Dan, any word on a work day to install additional pin placements? If it's a free weekend for me (or night after work), I'll be there. I'm not rushing you or anything, just anxious to help out.

Not this weekend. We've got alts and their distances figured out for 1-7, 9, and 18. I'd love your (and others') thoughts on 8 and 10-17. Maybe we can do that Saturday day or Sunday.
