Course Change

Postby peyton » Fri Oct 12, 2012 11:48 am

Just finished a meeting with the Marion Parks dept and they are going to start work on moving the t-pads and baskets for the new lay out. Holes 3, 4 and 5 are going away. There will be a new Hole 1 starting by the discus pad down by the trail going to the old #1 pin placements. Hole 2 will be like it was a couple of years ago and Hole 3 will be what 2 is now. The holes that used to run along the bluff (#5) will now be Hole 4 and then old hole 6 up the hill and over will be Hole 5. Hole 6 will be the same. All is the same from there with a new hole after 20. This will go out across the field to better connect the last hole and Hole 1. The work should be completed in the next couple weeks. The parks dept will also be working on Hole 11 and 12 putting in erosion type things to keep the hill in place. If you see the parks people working out there, please thank them for their work.

Looks like I'll need to get out tomorrow morning to play the course one more time as it is now.

I played a round at Thomas on Saturday 10/20/2012, the baskets in the new placements weren't in yet but the new pad had been poured.

I've seen several tee pads done. When will the baskets go in? Anyway we can contact the Boy Scouts to redo some of the tee signs? Also...there is a big tree down in the fairway of old #5.

All in time. I know about the tree and signs will probably have to wait until next spring. Baskets maybe next week or after. I have to get a couple more anchors but the parks said they would make them. Before Legion next year there will be a map of the entire course at the beginning.

sweet. I could get some signs directing people where to go too. Won't cost much and seems to be the #1 issue on DGCR....non-local golfers not knowing where to go.

How many holes will Legion be? If 18 and there are 2 leftover baskets...can they be set up by the parking lot for practice? 1 down by the lower parking lot and 1 up by the upper lot? If 20 holes then whatever but if it will only be 18 then no sense of them sitting in storage.

Baskets should be in by the end of next week according to the parks dept. The direction signs will be in some time after that. Next spring on the permanent signs.

FYI, I played Legion on Saturday (11/10/2012) morning and the baskets weren't in yet. It's 22 degrees out right now, so I'm assuming nobody cares.
