West Lake tour on Sept 4

Postby batlord » Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:45 pm

At the request of some players, I've been tricked into heading up a tour of West Lake's course on Monday. We'll start at 9am - Gate 4 at the pavillion on the right hand side. If I think about it, I'll try to print scorecards, but I may not have time. If we start this thing on time, we may not run into as many people picnicing (hopefully).

If someone's got a canvas ching basket, you're welcome to bring it along. We'll trade off lugging it around for each hole.

Last time I played out there, I shot +27, so come out and laugh at my serious lack of skillz these days. I promise I won't blow a gasket this time.

If you need directions, send me a message or e-mail.

Eric Giebelstein and I went out and played West Lake on Monday and had a blast. We hauled around a ching canvas basket (thanks tracey) to each hole and played some serious golf. Now that I'm 5 discs lighter than when I started, I've got my bag honed to a precision disc force to be reckoned with. (Not really). I'll give some advanced warning for the next tour if people are still interested.

Eric's living in town now for those of you old-school golfers who remember him. You might remember him from such films as "first one through the ice at Eastern Avenue" and "covered in mud at Devils Glen after slipping on the mud and rolling down the hill". You'll be seeing him around, I'm sure.

How long until West Lake goes in the ground?

It's looking more like after the thaw in 2007. The conservation board was gung ho to get it int, but the parks person who deals with the financial stuff told me it's looking more like the end of this year (which means the thaw in the spring). That could all change if the parks find themselves with excess money at the end of the year, but we're better off planning for the beginning of next year and planning on a sweet new course in 2007.
