Well, we're lucky we live in Iowa, if only for this reason. I remember years ago Rodney (maybe?) posted, or sent out an account of a parks board meeting in California somewhere. Someone was trying to get approval for a disc golf course, and the meeting deteriorated quickly into a shouting match, with stories of babies killed by errant throws landing in their strollers and metal rimmed golf discs. They probably have a point in some instances, even if their methods were bad. Some parks are too crowded for disc golf. Would be one thing if we still played with Wham-Os; not quite the risk of metal tipped lawn darts, but could truly be dangerous. In Iowa we can just find a little used park (hell, all of our parks are little used in comparison ). I can only imagine the trouble in more populous states.

Yeah we are lucky with the parks around here. I'm sitting watching the Gentleman's Club Challenge, we tried to play this course when we had a free day a couple years ago in Vegas. Literally 10k people scattered around in the Parking lot, baseball diamonds and grass areas. Left immediately to go to another course and the same thing there as well. So much for playing a Vegas course

yeah it's pretty amazing how there is still a course at Vista. You wait for people almost every single shot. The path is heavily used.

What I was wondering is how she qualified for pre-trial release in the first place and how and the hell can she break a smile after all this? I so wish they had found her and Dan at seven bridges instead of those little girls. shit still doesn't make sense to me, no perp has been caught yet and doesn't seem like the police are coming up with any new leads, the ones they had were pretty solid dead ends to begin with. Meanwhile Drew and Heather are trying to pick up the pieces everyday and reminded of this when they see her ugly mugshot on the news every six months. Lock that bitch up and throw away the key so people can move forward to a slight degree.

My concern is: will publicizing this make it more likely to catch perp, alert parkgoers to prevent injuries, or entice the sick-minded to copycat?

This is a big reason I don't think Disc is as big out here as it could be. These people have no idea how to design a course. Every course in the metro out here is dangerous. Not that I think old people complaining about birdwatching is a worthwhile reason to remove a course (see: Margo Frankel)...

But seriously, "make straight holes that go over every walkway in this park" seem to be the modus operandi out here.

It's stupid.

an all around great guy and one of my best friends lost his life in a motorcycle accident last night. i'm sure many of you here know or have met chase norton. always upbeat, always positive, and always great to be around. heartbreaking that the world had to lose you this way. hope we meet again.
